Saleen Speedlab is set to announce an exciting new product for S197 Mustang owners - the ShakerCharger. Combining the power of their Series VI twin-screw supercharger
with a functional shaker hood scoop, Speedlab is allowing owners to add a retro look as well as forced induction to their Mustang. The scoop, which requires a cutout in
the hood, feeds cold air directly into an airbox that sits above the supercharger.
We don't have a ton of details, but here's what we know so far. The inlet top is made of aluminum and has a larger throttle body flange opening to accept a larger throttle
body. The lower portion is constructed of injection molded plastic and contains a high-flow air filter that is 50% larger than the standard filter. All of this, combined
with the direct air coming in through the hood scoop, has yielded a gain of .25 psi at 80 mph - essentially this is a true ram air.
An upgrade kit will be available for Mustang owners currently with a Saleen supercharger. Owners of the Saleen Parnelli Jones Mustang will also be able to buy a
supercharger package that includes the ShakerCharger and new pistons to work with the supercharger. We have yet to hear about the cost of the complete kit or the upgrade
kit, but more information about pricing and additional information about the ShakerCharger should be available soon. The first kits should be available some time around
the start of May.
