Road Test: 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt
Posted 12.4.2007 in Road Tests
When the S197 arrived on the scene in late 2004, Ford promised the Mustang faithful that a new
version would arrive every year. The California Special made its debut in 2006, followed by the
Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT in 2007. For 2008, Ford has announced the return of the Bullitt, which
was last produced in 2001 and commemorates the 1968 movie “Bullitt” starring the legendary Steve
McQueen who drove a 1968 Mustang GT390. The new Bullitt made its fitting introduction in downtown
San Francisco, where we were lucky enough to get behind the wheel and get some driving impressions.

Road Test: Roush 427R Mustang
Posted 3.20.2007 in Road Test
It takes a lot to stay on top of a competitive industry, but Roush Performance has managed to do just that. Despite
the flood of aftermarket parts for the Ford Mustang in the last several years, the Detroit-based manufacturing
company has maintained a leadership position in the industry with no less than seven Roush Mustang variants available
for purchase at dealerships, as well as a wide range of performance parts for Mustangs ’99 and up. Previously, the
Stage 3 Mustang has been the top model, with 415 horsepower, complete body kit, and upgrades to the suspension, brakes
and more. For 2007 Roush has introduced a new top dog with the 427-R, the most powerful production Roush Mustang at the
time of its introduction (since taken over by the 430 horsepower limited edition BlackJack Mustang). Based on the Stage
3, the 427-R follows the “less is better” philosophy with more than $5,500 worth of core components left off the standard
features list found on the Stage 3. Roush describes the 427-R as “slightly less in content but includes 100 percent of
the fun factor.”

Road Test: Saleen Parnelli Jones Mustang
Posted 1.17.2007 in Road Tests
Great things can happen when the right combination of things comes together. The Saleen Parnelli Jones Limited Edition
Mustang is a perfect example. When legendary racecar driver and 1970 Trans Am series champion Parnelli Jones approached
Steve Saleen about building him a Mustang to look like an original Boss 302 Mustang, the obvious came to mind: other people
will want this car too! They set about building a modern-day Boss 302, and not just a Mustang with a body kit and some badges –
Saleen wanted to do this right with a real 302ci engine, race-ready suspension and brakes, and of course, Parnelli’s approval
with of final product. The car made its initial debut in April of 2006 at the New York International Auto Show to the joy of
Mustang enthusiasts everywhere.

Road Test: 2006 Saleen S281SC Convertible
Posted 9.4.2006 in News
When the S197 Mustang platform was introduced it offered an increase in power, better handling, and a high quality
interior all wrapped in a striking new body. These changes benefited the aftermarket industry as well, who had a much
better starting vehicle to work with. Perhaps the most anticipated version of the Mustang came from Saleen, who has
been modifying and building production Mustangs for more than twenty years. The Saleen S281 was unveiled in 2005 at
the California International Auto Show and was available in two flavors – the S281 3-valve and the S281 Supercharged.
